April 1st - and the fooling has begun. Some great gags this year, Share yours!

Happy April fools day!
The day of the year that no company should make an announcement, based purely on the fact you will spend more time proving that you're not pulling someone's leg.
It's early and I've already heard some really funny ones.

Google really likes April 1st and has for years. This years I think they were a little less creative than others but it's still Funny ~SEE IT HERE~

A different kind of company name

Early last month the mayor of Topeka, Kansas stunned the world by announcing that his city was changing its name to Google. We’ve been wondering ever since how best to honor that moving gesture. Today we are pleased to announce that as of 1AM (Central Daylight Time) April 1st, Google has officially changed our name to Topeka.

Philip Bloom used the earths rotation to his advantage by posting what had to have been close to the first April Fools joke of the day. And boy was it a good one ~SEE IT HERE~

Exclusive: Canon DSLR video goes RAW!!

We have been hearing mutterings of this for the past few weeks. “Top DPs in Europe testing out RAW recording on Canon 5Dmkii”. It all sounded like nonsense didn’t it? Well I can exclusive reveal today (we are ahead of the US in time zones here in the UK) as the embargo I was given 0001 BST 1/4/10 has now passed…Canon have done exactly what we wanted. RAW baby, RAW! New firmware will be released imminently  for every camera from the Rebel T1i/ 500D through to the 1DmkiV giving it the much desired RAW recording on the memory cards. Not just that, but they have also finally unlocked the HDMI out to give us an uncompressed feed so we can plug in our Nanoflash or KiPro and record into a format that we have dreamed of!!

And one more for good measure that came out to taunt people ~SEE IT HERE~

Canon, Olympus, and Nikon unveil App-e-ture: the app store for your digital camera

Download new ways to shoot photographs

Canon, Olympus, and Nikon have announced a new partnership (CON) to create an app store for digital cameras, that will allow you to download a range of applications for your digital camera, while at the same time inviting Samsung and Panasonic to join them.
The new app store is to be called App-e-ture and allows users to force their camera into taking images like a pro and is sure to help gain ground on phone cameras that many believe are damaging compact camera sales.

As a day to prey on my weakness for new tech news I will Ignore any other announcements today. BUT if the big news I heard a whisper of today ends up being true I will jump up and down and tell you all about it, Just not today. Enjoy April Fools !
Please post your favorite April fools day internet announcements / posts below in the comments. I enjoy reading them.
